02/03/2019: Today's Updates... 5.50pm...

Fresh snow for Chatel and the Portes du Soleil brought some lovely early morning conditions, despite the relatively modest quantities. It doesn't take much to freshen up the pistes and that was the case this morning on our trip to St. Jean. Early sunshine gave way to cloudier spells later in the morning and it became noticeably milder again this afternoon, with the snow turning much wetter on many pistes that we encountered.

In Chatel, our estimation for snowfall based on several reports, was that up to 15cm of fresh snow had fallen at 1800m.

This week is the last big holiday week of the season and there appears to be half of Belgium here, if the number of their distinctive red number plates is anything to go by...

Early morning at St. Jean d'Aulps.

Bonjour - the skies are clear this morning after the snowfall of yesterday afternoon and evening, with a temperature of -1c in the village. No further accumulations fell since our last update.

As we are travelling to St. Jean today, an update will be posted later in the day, but the forecast page is expected to be updated towards 6.30am this morning.

How you can help this season... you will notice on some pages that there is a PayPal tip/donation box, eg on the "About Us" page, where you can send us a tip, if you like what we are doing. There is no obligation to do so, but any donations will help the running costs of this site during the winter season. The more people who help, the better we can make this site.
