04/04/2019: Today's Updates... 8.20pm...

8.20pm:

The skies have cleared this evening...

5.10pm:

The snowfall has been continuing here in Chatel - though in the village it is non-accumulating on many surfaces, but adding some cm's to the already snow covered areas. Higher up, this has turned into a fairly significant snowfall... and it is still snowing...

12.45pm:

Snow has continued to accumulate here in Chatel, with another 9cm of snow on our measuring surface since 7am - bringing the total of measured snowfall at 1200m to 24cm since yesterday. Snow depths are not 24cm - as the snow is fairly wet and has consolidated down under its own weight and some surfaces at this elevation have little cover.

On the ski area, conditions underfoot were fantastic for April with powder higher up and heavier, fresh snow lower down, making for some fun skiing and boarding. There is a bit of a cold wind at the top of the higher chairs and visibility isn't great at times - but who cares when we have fresh snow and some powder in April!!!

... and... it is still snowing...

7.15am:

Snow is falling here in Chatel this morning with the maximum measured depth of fresh snow since yesterday afternoon, measured at 15cm in the village. Some surfaces have less cover than this, some with very little on. The forecast page is expected to be updated at 7.45am.
