05/01/2021: Today's Updates...
There is no further news so far today on when the lifts will be allowed to open - though the 7th Jan appears highly unlikely!
The weather is set to remain cold through the rest of the week, with snow flurries at times, but with little in the way of fresh snow accumulations. Snow conditions across the area are generally in excellent shape.
We await the news from the French government...
A photo from yesterday's excursion...
Bonjour from Chatel.
It has been another cold night here in Chatel, with temperatures currently between -6c and -9c in the village and valley area and there is some snowmaking continuing in key parts of the ski area.
There is still no definitive news on when lifts might re-open, though it now appears that the re-opening of bars and restaurants will be delayed beyond the 20th January... which is obviously not a good sign.
Updates to follow...
The provisional opening date of the ski area is the 7th January 2021 - though we await further news on this from the government.
Bars, restaurants and cafes are expected to remain closed until at least the 20th January (takeaway services allowed before then).
Although confinement has ended in France - an overnight curfew is in place from 8pm to 6am (except the evening of 24th December).
Private gatherings indoors should be kept to a maximum of 6 adults according to advice from the French government.
Travel between regions in France is allowed.
