06/02/2020: Today's Updates... Day 57...


Some cloud did obscure the sun for a short time this morning, however, the afternoon more than made up for it, as it turned into a lovely day on the ski area. The sunshine felt warm on the sunny aspect slopes and the milder air meant that there was some spring-like softening in places, though winter snow conditions remained in many areas. Tomorrow is looking like being a beautiful day, so the end of the week is finishing on a high note, after the dreadful weather which started the week.

Unfortunately, there are strong winds again in the outlook, probably arriving on Sunday and potentially lasting for several days and there is also likely to be some rain and snow next week too. It is still too early to get a grasp of when the wetter and snowier periods are expected to be, as there is some model volatility, however, the first half of the week is looking generally very unsettled...

Bonjour from Chatel... where it is a clear and cold start to the day with temperatures between -5C and -8C in the village and immediate valley area. Snow cannon have been operating all night and their lights can currently be seen on Linga... note that yesterday evening's update did not upload properly, but should be visible now...

Update: 1.30pm: Overnight snowfall brought up to 6cm to the village - with less on other surfaces and alot of it has now thawed at this elevation. It was interesting to see more snow a few miles away
