06/11/2019: Today's Updates... First Snow For The Village... 7.15pm...
Further showers have fallen since the last update with the snow/rain limit remaining above the village, however, further accumulations are likely above 1600m or so.
The shower risk is set to diminish tonight, though a further one is a possibility, however, some clearer spells are expected. Although the clearer skies are likely to result in a frost overnight, the 0c isotherm is set to rise and sit at around 1800m tomorrow, until later in the day when rain and snow may arrive, associated with an occluded front approaching the area. With the 0c isotherm falling to 1400m tomorrow evening, another covering is possible for the village, with some further very useful accumulations for the upper half of the ski area.
Arome's view of the accumulations are below...
Next update early tomorrow.
There have been further showers today in Chatel, though they have turned to rain and sleet at village elevation, with the snow rain limit between 100m and 200m above the village.
There are reports of between 20cm and 25cm of fresh snow at Plaine Dranse - but these are unconfirmed.
Photo below taken at 2.45pm.
Next update this eve.
The overnight showers turned to snow down to village elevation, with a wet and patchy covering for the village up to a max depth of 2cm. The situation should be getting a bit more interesting on the upper half of the ski area, especially as there is more snow in the forecast over the coming days. We hope to bring you an update from up there later in the week.
Will update early this evening - or before, if possible, with the latest situ and a look at the forecast.
6.35am: Snow has fallen overnight here in Chatel... report to follow when it gets light...
