07/02/2019: Today's Updates... 8.25pm...

8.25pm:

3cm of wet snow have appeared on our measuring surface in the village and still snowing hard.

Next update early tomorrow...

7.55pm:

Snow has been falling again in the village in the last hour - update on accumulations shortly...

6.50pm:

Further outbreaks of snow have been coming down in the village since the last update, but not really adding to the dusting of wet snow. There is a thin additional cover on top of the existing snow pack, but not much. There should be some additional cm's higher up.

Currently a bit damper with some rain and sleet falling...

4.05pm:

Snow has been falling this afternoon, starting with a few flakes around midday with some rather more persistent outbreaks over the last couple of hours. So far, there is an additional wet dusting of snow on some surfaces in the village...

10.55am:

The weather here in Chatel is still bright , however, cloud is increasing...

The models and forecasting tools show a range of outcomes for the snowfall that is on the way. GFS is showing about 8cm for the village and 12cm for mid-mountain. ZAMG is not expecting much, with 1cm for the village and 3cm higher up and Meteo France's automated output suggests 6cm for the village and 12.5cm for the very top. Our forecast suggests a couple of cm's in the village and 5cm at 1800m.

The overall message is that quantities are going to be modest, though as always, a surprise can never be ruled out and 12cm at mid-mountain would be nice, but is perhaps a less likely scenario at the moment...

7.00am:

Bonjour - the skies are clear again this morning, however, a change in the weather is on the way during today...

Updates will appear on this page today and the forecast page is expected to be updated

towards 7.45am this morning.
