08/03/2021: Today's Updates...
Bonjour from Chatel.
There is a dusting of fresh, wet snow on some surfaces in the village this morning, with amounts much less than the charts of this time yesterday were suggesting, but they appear to be more in line with the updated chart which was posted yesterday evening.
The latter part of this week retains some interest in terms of some significant snowfall arriving, with the period from Thursday night to Sunday looking potentially rather unsettled. The situation remains finely poised in terms of how far south any colder air will come, so snow/rain limits are very uncertain at this stage - but, this appears to be the best chance of an interesting snowfall for the Chatel ski area since January!
Reports from the ski club kids suggest that the pistes are deteriorating in the Linga area. In a normal season, we would probably be a bit concerned by now, with a shrinking ski area and some lower pistes starting to struggle.
There are a few flakes of snow falling at the moment, with temperatures just above 0c.
Those who bought PDS season passes in the "flash sale" from the Chatel ski pass website last spring, should now be receiving emails giving options to either roll them over to next season, receiving a credit note or getting a refund. This applies to unused passes.
