10/01/2020: Today's Updates... Day 30...

There was a spell of rain, sleet and snow affecting the area during the early afternoon, however this fell as rain and sleet in the village and only brought an extra dusting higher up. The cloudier skies have brought a more general thaw lower down today, but we found just about a couple of cm's of fresh snow at 1800m in the Barbossine area (which was very, very quiet) and there may have been a bit more in other sectors which we did not witness.

Tomorrow, it's back to the blue skies and the models appear to have backed away from a possible pattern change after mid month, perhaps delaying it for a few days. For example, the GFS operational run was mostly dry out to the 19th, which is still a long, long way off. We'll have to wait and see what this evening's and the overnight model runs have to say, however, the trend today hasn't been great if you are looking for the signs of a return of significant snowfalls.

A couple of views from this afternoon...

Drier conditions arrived to the village after about 8am and the dusting at 1200m has mostly disappeared now and there have been some brighter interludes coming and going. A couple of cm's have been reported higher up, but we are yet to confirm this. There remains the chance of one or two wintry showers this afternoon, with dry and fine weather then expected for the weekend.

The very dry January 2020 continues...
