10/01/2021: Today's Updates...
Updated: Jan 16
As mentioned earlier, it is a really cold start to the day here in Chatel but another dry and bright day is expected.
However, the cold and dry spell is set to evolve into something a little more interesting for those looking for some fresh snow... An incursion from the northwest is expected to arrive during Tuesday, with further spells of precipitation through until the end of the week. There is a chance of significant snowfall for the Chatel area, though there is some uncertainty regarding snow/rain limits, which could edge close to, or perhaps just above the village for a time. We will start to get a better picture of the evolution of events from tomorrow, when the first part of the snowfall will come into the range of the highest resolution models. As it stands today, totals by the end of the week could be in the 50cm to 1m range at 1200m - IF - snow/rain limits are favourable.
It should be a very interesting week!
Here is the Arpege chart for total accumulations by 7am on Thursday. It is important not to look too closely at the detail, as this model has a bit of a broad-brush approach - just the signal for a significant amount of precipitation.
