13/03/2021: Today's Updates...

Update 8.15am:

Bonjour from Chatel.


There has been a dusting of snow overnight, perhaps up to 1cm on some surfaces in the village, however, something more substantial is still on the way for tonight. Further snowfall is expected tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

In other news, the French National Championships for the alpine skiing have been moved to the PDS, with Chatel hosting the Super G and Downhill events.


The provisional schedule is as follows: 23 mars : Ladies downhill training – Châtel 24 mars : Ladies Downhill – Châtel 25 mars : Ladies Super G – Châtel 26 mars : Ladies GS – Saint Jean d’Aulps 27 mars : Ladies & Mens Slalom – Les Gets 28 mars : Mens GS – Saint Jean d’Aulps 29 mars : Mens Super G – Châtel 30 mars : Mens downhill training Châtel 31 mars : Mens Downhill – Châtel





Those who bought PDS season passes in the "flash sale" from the Chatel ski pass website last spring, should now be receiving emails giving options to either roll them over to next season, receiving a credit note or getting a refund. This applies to unused passes.

Chatel Snowfall Measurements


The lifts on the ski area are closed until further notice.

Bars, restaurants and cafes are expected to remain closed until further notice (takeaway services allowed).

Although confinement has ended in France - an overnight curfew is in place from 6pm to 6am.

Private gatherings indoors should be kept to a maximum of 6 adults according to advice from the French government.

Travel between regions in France is allowed.

Update: 1.30pm: Overnight snowfall brought up to 6cm to the village - with less on other surfaces and alot of it has now thawed at this elevation. It was interesting to see more snow a few miles away
