15/01/2021: Today's Updates...
Updated: Jan 16
Snow has been falling all day, though it is now becoming more showery. There has been around 5cm of fresh snowfall since early this morning, so that is about 21cm for this latest batch of snow and more than 60cm at 1150m this week. Higher elevations will have seen substantially more. Not much more snow is expected this evening and tonight, with flurries perhaps bringing another cm, but there should be some more useful accumulations on the way during tomorrow night and on Sunday...
Snow continues to fall here in Chatel. There will be an update on accumulations this afternoon. Here are some of the latest scenes at 1150m...
Bonjour from Chatel.
There has been further snow overnight and there is about another 16cm of fresh, but very wet snow on the ground, which has fallen since late yesterday afternoon. The moisture content of the snow means it is compacting under its own weight, and some trees have been damaged locally from the sheer weight. Higher up, accumulations should be more significant once again. The total of fresh snow at 1150m since Tuesday afternoon is 56cm so far in the village.
Currently a mix of snow, graupel, pellets falling.
A couple of early morning photos have been posted on the WhatsApp group.
