15/12/2020: Today's Updates...

Update 8.15am:

The skies are cloudy here in Chatel and there is a bit of rain on the way for today and tonight. Snow/rain limits are expected to be at the very top of the ski area during today's showery outbreaks. Further showers overnight may see the snow/rain limit come down to 1700m, perhaps a touch lower for a time. Accumulations of snow are expected to be negligible, as suggested by the Arome hi-res model (see below) from www.meteociel.fr with other models suggesting a little bit more.

Looking further ahead and although the weekend could see some more precipitation, at the moment, the next opportunity for something much chillier and snowier might not be until the middle of next week - however, uncertainty levels in terms of the tracks and behaviours of areas of low pressure, are very high from this weekend onwards, with Sunday showing some potential too...

Update 7.10am:

Bonjour from Chatel... it is a relatively milder start to the morning with air temperatures above 0c in the village and hovering around freezing down on the Abondance valley floor...

Update to follow with a look at potential snow/rain limits for today's precipitation...

The provisional opening date of the ski area is the 7th January 2021.
