16/02/2020: Today's Updates... Day 67...

... and here is the Arome hi-res forecast for tomorrow evening/nights snowfall. Looks marginal for the village elevation - but more on this tomorrow morning...

Chart from www.meteociel.fr

... and the evening sky...

Temperatures climbed to an incredible 18.2C this afternoon at the local weather station which is at about 1100m. That's more like May.

Fortunately, the wind was not strong enough to bring any lift issues in the Chatel area.

The good news is that apart from some notable exceptions, such as on Barbossine, most of the pistes of the ski area still have good cover, which should provide some decent skiing and boarding through the holidays and even the run down to the bottom of the Super Chatel telecabine is still open (just - as it is very gravelly!). However, the situation is not a normal one and as the grass at our building is turning from brown to green, when it usually has a thick cover of snow, just shows what an unusually mild winter it has been, which has been most noticeable in the village.

The latest model runs are just churning out, so info on tomorrow evening's precipitation event should be online at about 6pm.

Temperature has risen to 6C.

Below is a selection of the gust forecast charts for today and tomorrow, in km/h...

Bonjour from Chatel... where it is an incredibly mild start to the day with a temperature in the village of close to 5C, which, when considering the fact the skies are mostly clear, is very unusual.
