18/11/2018: Evening Update...

The skies have been clear again here in Chatel today, with that colder feel that began yesterday and the lower temperatures down in the valley overnight allowed some snow cannon to be switched on, with some whitening of the nursery area down at Cret Beni. There may be a bit more snowmaking action tonight and tomorrow, though the spell of colder temperatures does look like being fairly short lived, with the 0C isotherm set to rise again after tomorrow.

Cret Beni, La Chapelle this afternoon.

Looking ahead to tomorrow and there is a chance of a snowfall arriving during the afternoon, however, the latest Arome hi-res model run has shown a little downgrade this afternoon, in comparison to what it was showing this morning, to only a dusting - as shown on the chart below... from the Meteociel.fr website.

Looking further into the week and those temperatures do look as though will become less cold again, never particularly mild, but not as cold as Monday. This will limit the potential for sustained snowmaking in the area. There are some hints appearing of something more interesting in terms of precipitation towards next weekend, but we will wait until we have seen the overnight models before commenting on them tomorrow.

Bye for now... next update expected to be tomorrow morning, on the snow forecast page, which will see its first update of the season, followed by an update on this page...
