• The Chatel Snow Report

19/02/2019: Today's Updates... 5.50pm...

The fine spell continued today here in Chatel, with pleasant sunshine and a variety of snow conditions reported on the ski area, with temperatures a touch lower again. There is a gradual deterioration of piste conditions in some areas, though snow cover on the vast majority of Chatel's pistes remains very good.

The dry spell is still set to continue until the end of the month. There have been one or two hints today of some precipitation arriving on or around the 28th, but that remains so far off for it not to be taken seriously at this stage. For any confidence for the arrival of a pattern change in the weather, it needs to appear in the models within the 7 day timeframe, and at the moment, there is a reasonable chance that the mostly dry weather may extend into the early part of March.

For the ski area, the fine spell shouldn't be too troublesome... for the majority of the area... the exception being those sunny aspect pistes which have not had the benefit of snow cannon cover during the winter.

So, at the moment, it continues to be the case of enjoying the lovely sunshine and putting thoughts of deep powder days to the back of the mind...

Late afternoon view across Chatel.
