20/02/2019: Today's Updates... 5.45pm...

It has been another lovely day across the PDS today, with mild sunshine. We were over in Les Gets today for one of the local children's ski races up on Mont Chery, where the snow was very much in the spring category on the sunny aspect slopes, with the hard early pistes quickly softening in the increasingly strong February sunshine. For us in Chatel, these are the outer reaches of the PDS area, but the trip was rewarded with some beautiful views.

As this is a snow reporting site, which is most active when snow is either falling, or expected to fall, we have mixed feelings about the current dry spell. The latest GFS model run in hinting at a more active Atlantic in early March, so there is the chance of a change at the turn of the month, however, in forecasting terms, that remains a very, very long way off...

Bonjour - it is an early start today and it is another clear start to the morning with the moon currently shining brightly above Chatel. Temperatures have dipped to -4c just below the valley...

Updates will appear on this page today and the forecast page is expected to be updated

towards 6.40am this morning.

How you can help this season... you will notice on some pages that there is a PayPal tip/donation box, eg on the "About Us" page, where you can send us a tip, if you like what we are doing. There is no obligation to do so, but any donations will help the running costs of this site during the winter season. The more people who help, the better we can make this site.
