20/11/2020: A Light Covering Of Fresh Snow...

Update: 9.50am:

Brighter weather has arrived...

Update: 9.00am:

As expected, there has been a light covering of snow here in Chatel overnight, with 2 to 3cm at 1150m.

Photo from this morning, before the cloud returned to obscure the view.

The weather is set to become milder and finer again from tomorrow and the prospects for further snowfall are not looking great over the next week, if the latest model runs are to be believed. Significant snowfall appears unlikely over the next 7 to 10 days, however, it should be noted that levels of uncertainty are extremely high beyond 5 days at the moment.

Below is a snapshot of the latest runs from the 3 major models this morning, courtesy of www.meteociel.fr with the message being that Atlantic fronts are struggling to make much headway into this part of the world, with higher pressure over SE Europe creating a bit of a block. It may be December before we see a major change in pattern, but as mentioned above, nothing can be ruled out beyond 5 days...
