24/11/2020: No Convincing Signs Of Snowfall...
The weather is beautiful in Chatel this morning with clear blue skies and a frost - but conditions remain unsuitable for snowmaking for the vast majority of the ski area.
With President Macron set to provide further information regarding what restrictions will be in place in December, all talk of resort opening is fairly irrelevant at the moment - due to the lack of snow cover.
The graphic below (from www.meteociel.fr ) gives a flavour of the model output this morning, with our area showing only a couple of mm of rain equivalent precipitation over the next 10 days.
We have been in this situation several times in the last few years, so although it is too early to hit the panic button, the outlook is of concern and does need to change for there to be enough snow to open any lifts.
We'll keep an eye on any convincing signs of a change in the model output and keep these pages updated daily.
