25/12/2019: Today's Updates... Joyeux Noel / Happy Christmas...

6.15pm:

Another ski area Christmas Day is over and it was a day which started off with glorious sunshine and clear blue skies. Photos below are from a quick tip up to Mouet this morning.| This afternoon, it was up to PLJ for a pootle about. The car parks were quite full and so the parking by the dechetterie was in use. There was a bit more cloud at times and a bit of breeze, so the ski area got quite cold and the pistes were really hard, pretty much everywhere. This is not surprising after the rain of yesterday followed by an overnight piste re-freeze under the clearer skies. The hardness of the pistes was commented on by skiers and boarders alike, with the boarders finding them to be quite a handful. Hopefully, conditions should be better first thing tomorrow after the piste machines have been out overnight tonight, so some pistes may be improved for a time, before they become scraped again.

Looking ahead and there is still the chance of a useful snowfall arriving on Thursday night. Although this one does look like being a marginal event again for the village, the latest Arome hi-res model run suggests useful amounts of fresh snow by 7am on Friday, with further snowfall expected during Friday. More on this on tomorrow morning's updates.
