• The Chatel Snow Report

25/12/2020: Today's Updates...

Update 11.45am:

There have been a few snow flurries since the last update, with a dusting of fresh snow added. Temperatures are cold - currently below -2c.

Update 7.10am:

Bonjour from Chatel, Happy Christmas / Joyeux Noel.

Snow has been falling in Chatel since yesterday evening, after a damp spell during the second half of the afternoon and early evening. Fresh snow accumulations in the village appear to be between 8cm and 10cm this morning, which is a few cm's less than expected, which is partially due to the slower than forecast moving down of the snow line late in the day yesterday.

Current temperatures in the village and valley are between -1.5c and -2c and snow is falling lightly.

Updates to follow.

The provisional opening date of the ski area is the 7th January 2021.

Bars, restaurants and cafes are expected to remain closed until at least the 20th January (takeaway services allowed before then).

Although confinement has ended in France - an overnight curfew is in place from 8pm to 6am (except the evening of 24th December).

Private gatherings indoors should be kept to a maximum of 6 adults according to advice from the French government.

Travel between regions in France is allowed.
