26/12/2020: Today's Updates...

Update 12.55pm:

It's a cold but bright day here in Chatel, with snow cannon making snow right across the ski area, adding to the natural snowfall of Christmas Eve night. Further snowfall is expected tomorrow evening, following the potential for a brief period of foehn wind. Thereafter, the first half of next week also has snowy possibilities, as well as cold temperatures.

More on the forecast tomorrow. Below are a few shots from late this morning...

Update 7.30am:

Bonjour from Chatel, where it a cold start to the morning with temperatures currently between -5c and -7c in the village and valley areas. Snow making has been ongoing since yesterday evening. There were no additional accumulations of fresh snow since the last update.

Update to follow during the day...

The provisional opening date of the ski area is the 7th January 2021.

Bars, restaurants and cafes are expected to remain closed until at least the 20th January (takeaway services allowed before then).

Although confinement has ended in France - an overnight curfew is in place from 8pm to 6am (except the evening of 24th December).

Private gatherings indoors should be kept to a maximum of 6 adults according to advice from the French government.

Travel between regions in France is allowed.

12/04/2021: Today's Updates...

Update: 1.30pm: Overnight snowfall brought up to 6cm to the village - with less on other surfaces and alot of it has now thawed at this elevation. It was interesting to see more snow a few miles away
