27/11/2018: Today’s Updates... 4.45pm...

Next update expected to be the snow forecast early tomorrow... followed by updates on these snow report pages during the day.

4.45pm

There have been some very light snow flurries this afternoon but no further accumulations.

A trip to Pre La Joux and Plaine Dranse was undertaken this afternoon, though with poor visibility, the planned trip higher up was postponed. The photos below give a flavour of conditions below Plaine Dranse, where more snow is needed. We'll take another look at this area on Thursday.

In terms of fresh snowfall, the total for 1200m was 7cm on our most favoured measuring surface, though the current cover is less than that and some surfaces received very little cover. Up in the Plaine Dranse area, there appeared to be at least 15cm of fresh snow in places and perhaps the total snow depths down to the earth beneath is around approx. 20cm. There appears to have been no further production of man made snow this week (apart from at the snow factory).

The Belette road had decent vehicle compacted snow on many areas.

So, although it is good to see the fresh snow and the fact that there are areas which looks as though they could now be pisted, it does look as though the bottom of Pre La Joux is not currently in a condition to be opened - but as mentioned above, we will check again on Thursday.

Snow factory mounds now even bigger

Lots of work at the new lift station

Most of the new chairs yet to be fitted.

11.25am

The snowfall is now showery with some drier periods. It looks like we have had another 1.5cm in the village since the early update. Latest view from a few minutes ago is below and the plan remains the same for the afternoon.

11.15am

9.45am

Snow has been falling gently since the early update this morning with some further slight accumulations. The photos below are from 9.30am.

The plan today is to head to the ski area at PLJ this afternoon for a look at what conditions are like on the ground in and above the Plaine Dranse area and whether the chairs are on the new lift yet. So, unless the morning snowfall intensifies, the next update on this page is expected to be after mid-afternoon, depending on the length of the excursion up into the ski area...
