27/12/2019: Today's Updates... Day 16...
The skies have cleared and the temperature is close to 0c in the village, leading to some slippery surfaces again. We have had various reports regarding snowfall totals from various sources this afternoon with 25cm+ recorded close to 1800m this afternoon, with some suggesting a bit more than this and another report of a fair bit more. So, this was a very useful snowfall for the majority of the ski area and hopefully, the clearing skies may allow temperatures to fall low enough to enable some snowmaking overnight, which would be even more useful for the very lowest pistes, which did not benefit fully from today's snow.

The snow continued to fall this morning, with some heavy spells of wet snow which caused plenty of road issues in the village. The snow never got to more than about 5cm in the village as it was so wet and was thawing as it was settling, resulting in a really slushy covering, however, just a short distance above the village, the accumulations should have been much more useful.
Today there are 33/45 pistes open in the Chatel area, with the exceptions being the black runs, the 2 red pistes on Barbossine and a couple of the lowest slopes (eg the Stade). Whether today's snowfall is enough to open more pistes, remain to be seen. Out of 40 lifts, 37 are in operation.
The latest charts show no significant snowfall for the next 10 days, with some charts suggesting a minor snowfall perhaps on the 4th, however, that is far from guaranteed - so a period of anticyclonic dominated weather is set to arrive from tonight, with some mild sunshine at times by day.
It will be nice to see some consecutive days of sunshine!
... and back to snow again...
Snow has turned to sleet and rain at 1200m in the village - so now a very wet, slushy covering on the ground.
Total snowfall in the village up to 7am was 1cm of wet snow.
Bonjour from Chatel... after some light rain in the village yesterday evening and last night, it is now snowing at our location, just under 1200m, with a covering on most surfaces (less than 1cm so far). Temperatures are between 0c and 1c.
