29/11/2020: Colder This Morning... Snow On Tuesday...

Update: 3.10pm:

Fog has been moving up and down the valley today...

Update: 9.50am:

It is a colder start this morning, with temperatures dipping to about -3.5c in the village and the trend is for generally chillier weather over the coming days. There is also some snow still on the cards for Tuesday, with some model output suggesting that 10cm is possible for the village - however, there will be a closer look at this on tomorrow's update, once the potential snowfall comes into the range of the more accurate, highest resolution models.

Beyond Tuesday, all snow watcher's eyes are fixed on the behaviour of a deep area of low pressure which is expected to be sat on or close to the UK at the end of next week. Relatively small changes in the forecast track and behaviour of this low is resulting in noticeable changes in the automated websites predicted accumulations. All that can be said at the moment is that the latest models still suggest that this is looking more like a southern Alps snow event, rather than a big one for the north and northwest Alps - however - as it is still some time off, the track of the low in question could easily change.... for the better or the worse...

Currently, there is only a dusting of snow on some shaded slopes, so in a normal season, we would now be getting rather worried by the lack of snowfall!

Expect a further update on this post today with a photo, with the next look at the forecast expected early tomorrow morning. We'll also be keeping a close eye over the coming days on the latest news regarding whether the Swiss side of the PDS opens in December and the controversial plan to bus French skiers across the border into Switzerland...
