• The Chatel Snow Report

30/11/2020: Colder Weather ... Snow Tomorrow ...

Update: 3.15pm:

A couple more photos from an afternoon excursion.

There's a bit more man made snow on some pistes - after the overnight snowmaking.

Update: 10.00am:

Cold and frosty here in Chatel at the moment...

Update: 8.25am:

Bonjour from Chatel where it is a cold start to the day, with temperatures of around -5c in the village and there is a noticeable hoar frost. Some snow making is currently going on, with some of the lower cannon visibly producing snow over on Linga.

This morning's models are still on a knife edge in terms of the period at the end of this week and into the weekend, in terms of the potential for significant snowfall, with small variations on each model run bringing some very big differences in the outcome for Chatel. The message this morning is to stay tuned, as the automated apps and websites will be showing some noticeable variations, depending on which model they get their data from. It may be a couple more days before the track of the low bringing any potential snowfall is finally nailed in terms of its effect on the PDS.

Before then, there is some snow on the way for tomorrow and there will be several updates on the site tomorrow covering this first snowfall of the winter season.

Below is the latest prediction from the hi-res Arome model from www.meteociel.fr ...

How you can help this season... you will notice on some pages that there is a PayPal tip/donation box, eg on the "About Us" page, where you can send us a tip, if you like what we are doing. There is no obligation to do so, but any donations will help the running costs of this site during the winter season. This will also give you access to the WhatsApp group - which on some days, will be the only place where forecasts and snow reports are posted. If you are a business - you can sponsor the site in various ways - so contact us for more info.

The page should be updated again during today with a photo and another look at Arome...
