31/01/2020: Today's Updates... Day 51...

1.15pm:

The weather has brightened up here in Chate,l after a mild and mixed morning, which saw a few more spots of drizzle. There is a spring-like feel to the air early this afternoon and alot of the fresh snow at the village elevation has already thawed, especially on the south facing slopes. Fortunately, much of the ski area still has excellent snow cover, so there is little to worry about there, and in areas where there might be issues - eg lower down on L'Epervier on Barbossine, snow has been stockpiled into a large mound as a reserve. However, the snow on piste today is very wet and this led to the cancellation of the FIS masters super G race on Linga this morning.

With mild conditions expected over the weekend, with some rain incoming too, we are still on course for the cavalry to arrive on Tuesday of next week, with another cold snap and the potential for a very useful snowfall for all elevations of the ski area. The chart below shows the cold fronts arriving on Tuesday, with a chilly and showery flow to follow.
